Due to the current COVID-19 situation with businesses slowly opening up, newborn artists are forced to shoot sessions outside for now. So, I’ve made some changes to these sessions to do my best to comply with the state guidelines and while doing so I’ve found so pretty magical moments.
Shooting outdoors brings a whole new element to newborn photography artistry. For the most part, shooting a newborn session can be shot just about anywhere however do to the overwhelming amount of materials needed it can be quite cumbersome to lug all those props and materials around. But, for now- I’ll take it and I’ll enjoy the change of scenery while doing so.
I actually shot this gorgeous newborn and family session at my home! I happen to have a beautiful spot right outside my front door that has enough room to romp around in the tall grass and even delight in the view of a little creek. For the more studio-looking images, I shot them very strategically in an open garage to add some shade in order to direct my light the way I want to use it. It was a perfect alternative to the regular studio experience but not something I could do all year long. For now… I’ll make the best of it so I can still have the opportunity to capture those fleeting newborn moments for families.
