Today was a very traumatic day for my husband and thus myself. I got a text early this morning after he had left for work that he had witnessed someone taking their own life while riding his morning train into the city.
Unless you’ve experienced it yourself, one can only imagine what that would be like sitting in the first car of the train. Horrifying is the only word that comes to my mind.
As he told me the story of what happened to him, I couldn’t help but think of all the beautiful little newborn angels I get to snuggle with when I shoot sessions. I get the honor of witnessing those beautiful first moments of someone’s life. It’s truly a magical (and exhausting) job.
And, then to fast forward to that moment when a person decides it’s not worth it anymore. To purposely leave any loved ones behind like that is mind boggling to me. Because LOVE is why we’re here. I can’t help but think of the parents who did so much to bring that person into this world and take care of him/her. It’s simply heartbreaking.
I just wanted to reflect for a moment on this horrible situation today and remind anyone who’s taking the time to read what I have to say to never leave a moment without reminding those you love that you love them. Cherish every second you have with your children because they too will grow up. It’s just so critical that they know how important they are and much they are loved.
I’m giving extra BIG hugs to those I care about tonight near and far. L.O.V.E. is why we’re here.
